Our Programmes

As well as the following programmes we are also able to create bespoke courses or training either in our own woodland and or in your choosen setting. We can even bring the outdoors indoors! Please get in touch to explore how we can help you get Rooted!

Babes in the Woods

These magical days give us a chance to slow down with our cubs, breathe and connect with each other, our little ones, and the beautiful woodland with all that it has to teach us.

The sessions are very relaxed and will vary from week to week. We walk, play, chat, tell stories, and meet the trees, plants and creatures of the woods. We taste, laugh and craft. We build, plant, use tools, create fire and food. We explore, learn and let our imaginations fly.

During each session we take a little time to share some food, a story and a song in amongst the free form of our time together.

You can either join us for the full day and immerse yourselves in the wonder of the woodland, or come along for whatever part of the day suits you!

These sessions are run on a donation basis so you can just pay what feels good for you.

Places are limited so booking is essential.

Monthly woodland wonder emersion

These days offer you the opportunity to rediscover your wonder in a woodland wander!

Immerse yourself in our beautiful woodland, turn off your phone and feel more connected than you have in a while

These monthly sessions will vary from month to month. They will follow what is happening in the woods from season to season. We will undertake some care for the woods, learning about its ecology and how we can improve and nurture it. We will provide a lovely lunch around the fire and the afternoon will include some kind of craft or new skill for you to try out, and more often than not end up with something to take home with you to remind you of your time with the trees!

Creating a Forest Garden

As part of our site development we will be creating our own Forest Garden. We will involve groups in the design and development of this space and all our clients will have access to the bounty it will provide! Fruits, veg, herbs, medicinal plants and more.

We are available to help design and create Forest Gardens in your own setting too. Forest Gardens can be anything from 1 tree and a collection of shrubs, herbs, flowers, nuts, climbers and mushrooms, to a full ‘forest’ of produce. So this is a great way to make the most of your surrounding green spaces!

‘Edible forest gardening is the art and science of putting plants together in woodland-like patterns that forge mutually beneficial relationships, creating a garden ecosystem that is more than the sum of its parts. You can grow fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms, other useful plants in a way that mimics natural ecosystems. The aim is to create a low input, high output system that benefits people and the environment, providing a great range of products.’ (Karuna Insight Design, 2019)

art in the outdoors - Crafting a COMMUNITY

There is something about being immersed in the beauty of nature that really gets you feeling creative!

Our Crafting a Community sessions bring together a creative community in our beautiful wild spaces. The sessions will be a mix of new skills and skills sharing. Some crafts will use products that we have collected or produced from our woodland and flower meadow, and others are inspired by nature but created by other mediums.

Some, but not all, of the mediums we will explore are; Painting, pastels, embroidery, charcoal making and drawing, natural dyes and paints, weaving, pewter work, clay baked on an open fire, natural fibre string, bark work, carving, whittling and green woodwork.

These sessions are as much about the community we will create as the creations that we will produce. We encourage anyone to come and join in, feel inspired by nature and each other.

Sessions open to everyone, with or without previous creative experience.

forest school and EDUCATIONAL training

Come and train with our highly experienced practitioner and trainer Ceris Williams Turner. Ceris brings one of the most hands-on OCN Forest Schools training courses out there to our beautiful woodland in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Ceris’ training is accessible, comprehensive, adaptable and fun! You will come away inspired, motivated and full of confidence in both your practical woodland skills and your ability to use this ‘tool box of skills’ to have a profound positive effect on your groups.

Unlike other courses, you are guaranteed direct contact with your trainer throughout your journey right though to course completion…and beyond! Ceris has cultivated a great community of practitioners and supports them years after they have left the training in whatever endeavours they move onto.

This is not ‘just a job’, it is a passion and Ceris works hard to ensure all of her trainees get exactly what they need from her training. Whether you are working in a nursery, school, college, local council or self employed, Ceris has a hugely diverse range of experience and can guide you through the challenges and work that it takes to make your Forest School ambitions become a reality.

The training has also been developed further by Ceris’ passion for child development and her personal studies of child psychology and nurology ensures that all of the research and theories used are relevant, up-to-date and effective.

This unique combination of knowledge and skills brings to you one of the most relevant, usable, up-to-date training packages out there. We will give you more than just a great experience, we will give you the tools and knowledge to create life changing programmes and experiences for the people that you choose to work with.

We are also available to create bespoke training packages for your setting. Call or email to talk to us about what you need and we can develop something to suit you and your aspirations.
